An 11-month-old Alabama boy has died after he and his twin sister were left inside a hot vehicle last week at a car dealership where it is believed their father works.

Oxford, Alabama, Police Chief Bill Partridge released information regarding the incident in social media posts Friday afternoon.

Alabama news outlets report the twin sister is doing OK. They were discovered to have been left in the car at approximately noon Friday. The vehicle in which they were trapped was their father’s personal vehicle, not one for sale at the dealership.

Temperatures at the time were reportedly in the 90s.

Management at the dealership, Sunny King Honda, released a statement Friday afternoon which read: “The Sunny King Automotive Group family is hurting. We request your thoughts and prayers for our employee and his family and the Sunny King Automotive Group family.”

The police chief said investigators were looking into the matter to determine if the children’s being left in the car was merely accidental.
