Report: Mississippians six times more likely murdered than people in New Hampshire

Mississippi has the second highest murder rate in the nation according to a new report released by SafeWise.
The report shows 8 murders for every 100,000 people in Mississippi, nearly twice the national average.
Louisiana was reported as having the highest murder rate at 11.1 murders for every 100,000 people.
On the other end of the spectrum, New Hampshire had just 1.2 murders for the same population base.
The national average was 4.9 murders for every 100,000 residents.
The report looked at available crime data from 2013-2017.

States with the lowest rates included:
1). New Hampshire (1.2)
2). Maine (1.7)
3). Vermont (1.8)
4). Hawaii (2.0)
5). Minnesota (2.0)
