Recall may have Mississippi Taco Bell customers asking ‘Where’s the beef?”

Mississippi Taco Bell customers may be asking where’s the beef after the company announced a recall of approximately 2.3 million pounds of seasoned beef from its restaurants.
Taco Bell made the announcement Monday that it was taking immediate action after it received a consumer complaint.
The beef was apparently contaminated with metal shavings according to a USDA report.
The beef was removed and discarded in 21 states across the country including in the Southeast region. Taco Bell operates 81 restaurants in 55 Mississippi communities.
“Nothing is more important than our customer’s safety, and nothing means more to us than their trust,” Taco Bell’s North America President Julie Masino said.
On Monday the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced some of Taco Bell’s beef products have been recalled because they “ may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically metal shavings.”
The beef is used in tacos and burritos and came in cases containing five-pound plastic bags. According to Taco Bell, the product was produced on one of two lines at one plant location and was sent to distribution centers in Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Virginia.
