Mississippi police say they’re investigating an apparent accidental shooting Friday that left a man dead, killed by his own weapon.

Jackson Police report they were called to a scene in the 300 block of Lindsey Drive where investigators believe a man who was getting out of a vehicle appears to have accidentally discharged his handgun.

The man was struck when the firearm was discharged and died of his injuries at the scene.

The man’s identity or additional information into the case were not immediately released.
