Construction worker who fell 60 feet off water tower died from injuries

The contractor who fell from the water tower behind Kroger earlier this month has died.

Oxford Mayor Robyn Tannehill confirmed with The Oxford Eagle that the City was informed by a third party source of the man’s passing.

On Dec. 3, a contractor of the construction company hired to build the water tower located behind the Oxford Kroger east of Highway 7 fell approximately 60 feet.

He was airlifted to the Region One medical center in Memphis, spending several days in the Intensive Care Unit before succumbing to his injuries sustained in the fall.

The man’s name has not been released, and Tannehill said they did not have “any other details” pertaining to the incident.

The contractor worked for Phoenix Fabricators and Erectors, a company that specialized in constructing water towers.

The company is based in Avon, Indiana, and was hired by the city to construct the new water tower.
