A Mississippi city worker was arrested Tuesday and charged with inappropriately touching a child.
Gulf Coast media report that Cliff Kirkland, 67, who works for the City of Biloxi as the civic innovation and development officer, was placed on leave after the arrest.
Biloxi Mayor “FoFo” Gillich said in a statement that Kirkland’s arrest was shocking.
“While I have known Cliff Kirkland for over 30 years, be assured there will be no special treatment,” Gillich said. “As a Civil Service employee, he is entitled to due process.”
Kirkland was charged with two counts of touching a child for lustful purposes and received a $100,000 bond for each count.
Police have not released many details of the case against Kirkland.
