Beleaguered Mississippi State head football coach Joe Moorhead has reportedly been fired.

Reports surfaced early Friday that Moorhead has been ousted, including a report from The Commercial Dispatch newspaper in Columbus which cited multiple, but unnamed sources with knowledge of the situation.

Moorhead’s termination comes just more than a month after the school had publicly declared support for him saying he would return for a third season leading the Bulldogs.

Moorhead compiled a 14-12 record in his two seasons at Mississippi State. His MSU tenure was capped off Monday with a loss to Louisville in the Music City Bowl.
