Louisiana Police reported a Saturday manhunt ended after an ill newborn baby taken from a hospital was located in Alabama.

Louisiana State Police reported that the parents of the newborn left the Many, La., hospital with the newborn while both the mother and baby still had intravenous (IV) drips still connected. They left the hospital at approximately 3:55 a.m., less than three hours after the baby was born.

The baby was reportedly born with a life-threatening condition and doctors had scheduled for the baby to be transported to a larger facility in Shreveport, La., for medical care.

The parents, Shaun Levy, 39, and Brittany Parrie, 28, left the hospital in a Cadillac Escalade and because of fear for the baby’s well being, state police issued an endangered child advisory.

Police in Monroeville, Alabama, spotted the pair and took them into custody, Louisiana State Police reported. The newborn was taken to a Monroeville hospital where she was listed in stable condition.

Charges against the parents are pending, police said.

It was not immediately clear why the parents took the newborn and fled the hospital.
