The Institutions of Higher Learning Board of Trustees decided to suspend voting on the request to relocate the Confederate monument on the campus of the University of Mississippi in Oxford Thursday morning.
According to the Daily Mississippian, the state board which oversees the state’s universities and colleges made the decision Thursday when it met in Jackson.
In December, the Mississippi Department of Archives and History (MDAH) discussed the statue and unanimously approved the University’s plan to relocate the monument to a Confederate cemetery on campus, which was announced in August.
The IHL said the vote is pending further review.
