Fire engulfed a motel Friday morning in Jackson, Mississippi, creating flames and a plume of smoke that could be seen for miles.

The fire broke out around 6 a.m. at Hilltop Inn & Suites near Interstate 20, news outlets reported.

The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known. Officials had not said whether anyone had been injured.
