Five people arrested after anchored body found when Mississippi pond drained

A dead body, weighed down and anchored in several feet of water, was pulled from a Mississippi farm pond over the weekend leading to five people being charged.

Neshoba County area media report that county sheriff’s office investigators along with agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations were executing a search warrant to drain the pond. When the pond was drained, the body was located.

Investigators said it was anchored and weighed down.

The farm pond was located in the Hope community off Mississippi Highway 488.

Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said the warrant was related to a murder investigation.

The body was sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy.

Investigators have not released a possible identity of the body or released details of the five people arrested.
