Suspect wanted in brutal Mississippi murder captured after two days on run

U.S. Marshals arrested a suspect who is believed responsible for the murder of a Mississippi woman who was found dead in her house on Monday afternoon.

Jones County Sheriff Joe Berlin said the suspect, who has not been named, was capture in Nashville, Tennessee, Wednesday night. The victim’s car which was stolen after the murder and was the subject of a manhunt was located at the scene of the arrest.

Investigators say the man brutally killed 82-year-old Betty Dickerson in her home in the Shady Grove community just outside Laurel, Mississippi.

Sources said she appeared to have a knife wound to her throat. A motive for the murder has not been released.

“Additional information will be forthcoming as this investigation is still unfolding,” Sheriff Berlin wrote in a public release. “You can run, but you can’t hide! The long arm of the law was demonstrated over the course of this investigation and manhunt. Please continue praying for Ms. Dickerson’s family and friends as they mourn her loss.”
