Quarantined passengers who tested positive for the coronavirus will soon be housed at a federal facility in Alabama, the federal government announced.

The Americans who tested positive for the coronavirus and were evacuated from the Diamond Princess cruise ship will be moved the FEMA Center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston as early as next week.

Reportedly the people coming to Alabama have tested positive but either have no symptoms or only mild symptoms.

“Any of the evacuees who become seriously ill will be transported to pre-identified hospitals for medical care,” according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

It was unclear whether those hospitals are in Alabama or elsewhere.

Approximately 3,700 passengers and crew aboard the Diamond Princes cruise ship were quarantined in Japan earlier this month.

The controversial decision seems to have backfired, spawning more passengers to contract the virus.

Hundreds of Americans were removed from the ship last week and transported back to America.
