A body found stuffed in a trash can behind an abandoned house in Jackson has been identified and the coroner reports the man was shot to death.

The body was identified as Bernard Williams, 44, Jackson area media reported Thursday.

Police found the body at approximately 8 a.m. Tuesday in a wooded area behind a vacant house off West McDowell Road.

Jackson Police are investigating the case as a homicide.
