A Jackson firefighter was fatally shot in what police suspect was an armed robbery.
The slaying happened late Sunday, just before midnight, in the parking lot of a Jackson gas station, WJTV-TV reported.
Jackson police said the slain man’s vehicle had been taken, making robbery a likely motive behind the shooting. Police did not immediately announce any arrests or identify any suspects in the case.
The slain man was identified as 48-year-old Yancey Williams, a Jackson firefighter, by Fire Division Chief Cleotha Sanders.
