The State of Louisiana reported its number of COVID-19 coronavirus cases rose by more than 1,200 cases since yesterday.

Currently the state reports a total of 5,237 cases. Louisiana’s death toll for the virus is 239. The virus has been detected in all but four of the states 64 parishes, the state reported.

A total of 1,355 coronavirus cases are currently hospitalized in the state. Of those, 438 are on ventilators.

Across the South, the number of cases of the coronavirus continue to drive higher.

Here are the results through Tuesday afternoon:

Alabama: 974 positive cases, 20 deaths.
Arkansas: 508 positive cases, 7 deaths.
Florida: 6,096 positive cases, 77 deaths.
Georgia: 3,817 positive cases, 108 deaths.
Louisiana: 5,237 positive cases, 239 deaths.
Mississippi: 937 positive cases, 20 deaths.
Tennessee: 2,239 positives cases, 23 deaths.
Texas: 3,266 positive cases, 41 deaths.

Total cases across the Deep South: 23,074.

The number of people infected worldwide surpassed the 838,000 mark. Deaths were more than 41,000, but the number of people considered recovered reached more than 175,000, according to a tally kept by Johns Hopkins University.

The University’s tracking shows approximately 177,000 cases in the U.S., making the U.S. the country with the highest number of cases in the world.

Everyone is warned to take the necessary precautions to help limit the spread of COVID-19 and stay safe and healthy.

These precautions include:

• Washing your hands for at least 20 seconds and frequently
• Covering your cough or sneeze with your arm
• Avoiding touching your face
• Routinely clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces
• Avoiding close contact with others
• And staying home if you are sick
