A Mississippi man died Wednesday in a Texas hospital after he was thrown from a motorcycle on Saturday.

Abilene, Texas, media report James Lee Parks, 48, of Blue Mountain, Mississippi, died Wednesday at Hendrick Medical Center.

Police say Park lost control of the 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle he was driving Saturday night and struck a curb.

The collision threw Park from the motorcycle.

Although police said he was wearing a helmet, it became dislodged from his head during the impact.
