A Mississippi man was killed late Sunday after the truck he was driving collided with a parked 18-wheeler on Interstate 20.

According to a report from the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Jody W. Chapin, 38, was killed when the truck he was driving on Interstate 20 westbound left the lane and collided with an 18-wheeler that was parked on the westbound shoulder.

The accident happened shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday near Bolton.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was outside of his vehicle when it was struck and was hit by debris. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A passenger in the 18-wheeler was not injured.

Authorities said the accident remains under investigation.
