The Vicksburg Police Department responded to a call of a shooting on Halls Ferry Road this evening that could have been far worse.

According to the department, a 3-year-old boy got hold of a handgun and fired it. The bullet reportedly grazed his head causing minor injuries.

He was transported to Merit Health River Region, where he was treated and released.

The call was dispatched at 5:37 p.m. and the incident happened on the 4400 block of Halls Ferry Road.
