Jackson police report several people were injured Wednesday night at an apartment complex when someone shot at an apartment, a 5-year-old child died of the shooting.

Police say they were called to an apartment complex in the 1200 block of Wood Village Drive at approximately 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

Four people had been shot, including the 5-year-old child after some apparently peppered an apartment and a vehicle outside with bullets.

Jackson police said all the victims were transported to a hospital, where the young child later died. The other three victims appeared to have wounds that were not life-threatening, police reported.

Jackson police said they have a possible suspect identified.
