Mississippi State Health Department officials announced Friday morning during a press conference with Gov. Tate Reeves that COVID-19 coronavirus cases and deaths continue to grow in the state.
The state reported 169 new cases to bring the total to 3,793 total cases.
An additional 11 people died since yesterday bringing the death total to 140.
Friday’s report indicates the 9th straight day that new cases topped 100.
The state has delayed its county-by-county breakdown today as they’re working to provide racial breakdowns by county, which are expected to be completed later this morning.
A total of 67 long-term care facilities have been found to have an outbreak of coronavirus.
For the sake of reporting, the state considers even a single case of coronavirus among staff or residents of these facilities as an “outbreak” and are tracked by county below.
