The Mississippi State Department of Health’s latest statistics released Wednesday morning show the number of new COVID-19 coronavirus cases and deaths continued to climb.

On Wednesday morning, the state reported an additional 182 new cases have been confirmed in the last 24 hours bringing the total cases to 10,090. The state believes approximately 62 percent of the patients found to have coronavirus have recovered.

The state announced Wednesday morning 8 new deaths were attributed to the virus bringing the total death toll to 465.

The state reported that 212 deaths were of residents of long-term care facilities or more than 45 percent of all deaths in the state.

The seven-day average of new cases reported dropped to 239, and was at the lowest level in nearly two weeks.
