A Mississippi man drowned Saturday afternoon after he apparently jumped into a lake.
The victim was identified as 20-year-old J.W. Ransom II.
Exactly what led Ransom to jump into the Tunica County lake were not immediately clear.
Memphis-area media report that Ransom’s family said he was the father of a 7-month-old child.
The drowning occurred at a lake near Cypress Lake Apartments off Casino Center Drive extension.
Tunica County Sheriff’s Office investigators are trying to determine what led Ransom to enter the water.
