Investigators determined the victim and a suspect had been engaged in a road rage incident that began about 20 miles (32.19 kilometers) down the highway before the suspect began shooting at the truck, according to Highway Patrol.

The suspect’s vehicle had Louisiana license plates and continued driving after the shooting, Elkins said. The agency on Monday asked any witnesses who were on the road at the time to come forward.
