Sheriff Joedy Pennington said the dogs are being taken care of in another county and that investigators are working to determine if any were stolen so they can alert the rightful owners.

The sheriff told WTOK he will not tolerate dogfighting.

“What happened last night was despicable,” he said to the TV station.

Formal charges are expected today.
