The number of COVID-19 coronavirus cases in Claiborne County has nearly doubled in recent days.

In Tuesday’s report by the Mississippi State Department of Health, the number of confirmed cases in Claiborne County increased to 112, nearly double from the same period last week.

In a press conference Monday, state health officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs said while many of the outbreaks in the state have been by community-spread, the spike in cases in Claiborne County is connected to one particular outbreak. Dobbs did not give any additional details on the source of the outbreak.
