Just before 5:30 a.m. Friday, a Nissan Sentra traveling north on U.S. 61 North in Vicksburg, Mississippi, reportedly struck and killed a pedestrian near Family Dollar and Merit Health River Region.

According to reports from the Mississippi Highway Patrol, for unknown reasons, the pedestrian crossed into the roadway and was struck by the vehicle.

Officials with the Mississippi Highway Patrol have withheld any additional information pending notification of next of kin.
