The Latest: Mississippi’s updated coronavirus case counts, deaths

Mississippi reported additional COVID-19 coronavirus cases and deaths Monday with the 14-day average of new daily cases remaining steady.
The Mississippi State Department of Health reported an additional 283 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours bringing the total cases to 19,799. The state estimates more than 13,000 of those cases have fully recovered.
The state announced Monday 4 new deaths were attributed to the virus bringing the total death toll to 895.
Of the total deaths, the state reports 457 or 51% of the total were patients at long-term care facilities.
Mississippi’s 7-day average of new cases dropped to 290 per day. The record high of the 7-day average of new cases is 332 and was set on Friday.
The 14-day average of daily new cases rose slightly Monday to 289 cases per day. The 14-day, daily average record was 317 set on Wednesday.
