The latest: Mississippi reports increases in daily coronavirus cases, deaths

Mississippi reported additional COVID-19 coronavirus cases and deaths Tuesday showing the number of cases and deaths over the last 24 hours was greater than the trailing 7- and 14-day averages.
The Mississippi State Department of Health reported an additional 353 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours bringing the total cases to 20,152. The state estimates more than 15,000 of those cases have fully recovered.
The state announced Tuesday 20 new deaths were attributed to the virus bringing the total death toll to 915.
Of the total deaths, the state reports 466 or 51% of the total were patients at long-term care facilities.
Mississippi’s 7-day average of new cases rose to 292 per day. The record high of the 7-day average of new cases is 332 and was set on Friday.
The 14-day average of daily new cases rose slightly Tuesday to 295 cases per day. The 14-day, daily average record was 317 set on Wednesday.
