Computer software problems are preventing Mississippi State Health Department officials from providing detailed and timely updates of the state’s COVID-19 coronavirus, the state reported Friday.

In a social media post, the state health department said it “apologizes for the interruption of COVID-19 data.”

Officials said legacy software was causing problems with getting detailed reports created.

“Further detailed data reports will not be not available until the agency resolves these software issues,” the state reported. “In the meantime, we will continue to provide daily case counts and deaths on our website and social media.”

“Our focus will remain on quality data and accuracy rather than speed,” the state said. “We appreciate the importance of detailed data reporting, and hope to rectify this situation as quickly as possible while working to create a long-term, reliable solution.”

The software problems have been ongoing for the state. On June 11, the state was unable to provide daily stats. The same problems caused significant delays in reporting data Thursday, too.
