Police are investigating an early morning accident Friday that killed two people when their car flipped into a pond.

WLBT-TV reported that Rankin County Coroner David Ruth said two people were killed in the accident. He did not release the names of the victims pending notification of kin.

Police say the accident happened just before 4 a.m. on Highway 469 in Florence.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, the TV station reported.
