Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves said Tuesday morning that his COVID-19 coronavirus test results came back negative.

Reeves had reported Sunday that he had put himself into quarantine pending test results after he’d recently come in contact with a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives who had later tested positive for the virus.

“‪My girls and I tested negative for COVID-19,” Reeves wrote on social media. “Limited contact with the people who were diagnosed, but better safe than sorry! If someone you know gets the virus, get a test!”

Reeves and other state governor leaders were photographed in close proximity to one another on several occasions including the ceremony in which Reeves signed the bill into law changing the Mississippi state flag to remove a symbol of the confederacy.

One of those pictured with House Speaker Philip Gunn, who later reported that he had the virus. It was unclear if Gunn was the lawmaker Reeves feared may have exposed him.
