A 2-year-old Mississippi child drowned Wednesday morning in a pond near the boy’s home, the local sheriff reported.
Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell said the child apparently wandered away from a residence in the Escatawpa community. The pond was on the same property as the residence.
The sheriff reported that when first responders arrived the boy was unresponsive.
He was taken to Singing River Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The sheriff’s office said the case is under investigation but do not suspect foul play.
