A Mississippi high school football player was critically injured Friday in a shooting. Police say the boy’s uncle shot him multiple times.

The Jackson Clarion Ledger identified the victim as De Welch, 17, who plays for the Naniy Waiya High School Football team.

Kemper County Sheriff James Moore said the victim was shot multiple times Friday afternoon at a residence near the Kemper-Winston County line.
