Mississippi reports lower-than-average coronavirus cases

For the second-straight day, Mississippi reported lower-than-average new cases of COVID-19 coronavirus on Monday.
The state reported 572 new coronavirus cases Monday and 8 more deaths from the prior day.
The number of new cases was down significantly from Thursday’s record high for the most new cases in a single day – 1,775.
In total, 61,125 cases have been found in the state. The state believes more than 42,000 of those cases have recovered.
A total of 1,711 people in Mississippi have died as a result of coronavirus.
The 7-day, daily average of new cases dropped to 1,167 with Monday’s update.
The 14-day, daily average also dropped to a new record, 1,231 cases per day.
Totals of all reported COVID-19 cases for 2020, including those in long-term care (LTC) facilities.
