Mississippi hospitals set another record Wednesday, the state reported, as more than 300 COVID-19 patients are filling ICU beds and nearly 200 are on ventilators.
Mississippi State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs reported Wednesday that 329 confirmed COVID-19 coronavirus patients were in ICU beds across the state.
That’s a new record high since the pandemic began in March.
Dobbs said 192 confirmed COVID-19 patients are on ventilators, which ties the previous record for ventilator usage set a few days ago.
Dobbs said while the state’s hospitalization numbers are remaining relatively stable, he believes the numbers will likely increase soon because of the high numbers of cases recently found that, following historical trends, will eventually lead to more hospitalized patients.
