Mississippi’s first school district to start in-person classes last Monday has reported another case of the COVID-19 coronavirus, bringing the total number of virus cases in the district to eight.

“Corinth High School was notified this morning of one additional student testing positive for COVID-19,” the Corinth School District reported in a written statement. “This makes six total reported positive cases at Corinth High School.”

The district has also reported a positive virus case in a Corinth Middle School student and another case with an employee at the Corinth Elementary School, bringing the total number found in the district to eight people.

Corinth Schools Superintendent Dr. Edward Childress told CNN that 116 students are being quarantined due to exposure to the positive coronavirus cases.
