A Mississippi man was killed Saturday after a dispute at a funeral turned into a shootout.

Police found the victim dead inside a car across the street at a convenience store.

Jackson Police say they’re investigating the incident that started at the Westhaven Funeral Home off Robinson Street in Jackson.

Apparently Walter Hart Jr., 26, tried to attend the funeral service for a young man killed last month. Family members would not let Hart attend as they believed he was connected to the young man’s murder.

A fight broke out inside the funeral home and eventually spilled outside.

Police say Hart began shooting and someone in the crowd returned fire.

Hart was shot in the head and was found dead inside a vehicle at a nearby convenience store when police arrived.
