Mississippi’s new daily COVID-19 coronavirus cases ticked back up above trailing averages Saturday in Mississippi.

After Thursday’s sub-1,000 new case count, Friday and Saturday’s numbers climbed back above 1,000.

The huge spike in cases from July when more than 31,000 cases were reported subsequently has driven up the recent death toll.
