Crowd shoots back after man fires gun at Mississippi night club

A man in a car shot into a crowd of people at a Tupelo nightclub Sunday morning, and some people in the returned fire.

The incident took place around 2 a.m. Sunday morning, and is under investigation by the Tupelo Police Department.

A report from WCBI said witnesses reported that members of a crowd gathered at Club Heat on Senter Street fired back after a man in a red Ford Explorer shot into the group of people at the club. No one was reportedly injured in the incident.

Soon after, Tupelo police were led on a brief chase after they attempted to stop a red Ford Explorer.

Once stopped, officers arrested driver Kendrick D. Spears for misdemeanor offenses as well as felony possession of narcotics (suspected Ecstasy). Police also found two firearms, and Spears’ vehicle had bullet holes along the sides.

Police say a second suspect was detained and interviewed at the scene and cooperated fully. Officers say the investigation is in its early stages and more arrests are possible.
