Published 12:02 pm Saturday, August 29, 2020

Mississippi had slightly more new COVID-19 coronavirus cases Saturday than the trailing 7-day average, the state reported.

On Saturday, the state reported 735 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours. The state also reported 14 more deaths Saturday from the prior day.

Through Saturday’s statistics, 767 deaths have been reported in August from COVID-19, making August the deadliest month on record for Mississippi. The monthly death toll, however, is not exact due to delays in reporting that can cause deaths to be reported weeks after the person died.
