They have charged Mark Wilson Jr., 30, with murder and say he hit the two boys with a hammer and stabbed them to death.

Wilson reportedly had been in a methamphetamine binge in the days prior to the killings.

“We are grieving with the family and while I know there is no closure for them in their loss, we intend to bring justice for Robert and Tayten,” Sheriff Gator DeLoach said.

Wilson was well-known to the family and is dating Tayten and Robert’s aunt. The pair were staying in a shed on the property and several people interviewed told detectives the boys’ parents were trying help them from being homeless.

“The Baker family did a lot to help these two individuals, but Wilson was a threat to those around him and unfortunately Robert and Tayten were the ones who suffered whatever was going through Wilson’s twisted agenda,” DeLoach said.

Sheriff DeLoach said the work is still ongoing in this case as more evidence is being collected.

Wilson has an extensive criminal history in Alachua County for possession of controlled substances, burglary of a structure, grand theft of a motor vehicle and dealing in stolen property.
