Mississippi reported a lower-than-average number of new COVID-19 coronavirus cases again Monday driving the rolling 7-day average of daily new cases to the lowest level since late June.

On Monday, the state reported 241 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.

State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs attributed the lower numbers to Mississippians following virus mitigation guidelines and urged them to keep doing those.

“Masks and social distancing have helped MS push COVID rates down – with earlier orders concentrating on counties with the highest numbers (and the majority of cases),” Dobbs wrote on social media. “Stay focused – we want to keep our state healthy and our kids in school.”
