Mississippi’s daily new coronavirus case averages continue to decline

Mississippi’s trailing averages of new COVID-19 coronavirus cases continued to decline with the latest statistics from the state and for the first time since mid-June, no new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours from the virus.

On Tuesday, the state reported 249 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours. That number may be artificially low due to a number of private labs being closed for the Labor Day holiday on Monday.

The state also reported no new deaths Tuesday. It was the first time since June 11 that no deaths were reported.
