Mississippi’s new coronavirus cases bounce back up after weekend drop, nearly 30 more deaths

After a weekend lull in new COVID-19 coronavirus cases, Mississippi reported more than 500 new COVID-19 coronavirus cases Tuesday and more than two dozen more deaths attributed to the virus.
On Tuesday, the state reported 505 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.
The state also reported 28 new deaths Tuesday.
In total, 90,523 cases have been found in the state since March. The state believes approximately 79,000 of those cases have recovered.
A total of 2,734 people in Mississippi have died as a result of coronavirus, the state reported.
The 7-day, daily average of new cases rose to 449 with Tuesday’s update.
The 14-day, daily average dropped to 496 cases per day.
Totals of all reported COVID-19 cases for 2020, including those in long-term care (LTC) facilities.
