Mississippi’s COVID-19 new case averages slowing rising again, state reports

For the second-straight day, Mississippi reported an increase over the trailing averages in new COVID-19 coronavirus cases Thursday along with two-dozen additional deaths.

On Thursday, the state reported 701 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.

The state also reported 24 new deaths Thursday. Ten of the deaths reported Thursday actually occurred between August 19 and September 6.

In total, 91,935 cases have been found in the state since March. The state believes approximately 79,000 of those cases have recovered.

A total of 2,780 people in Mississippi have died as a result of coronavirus, the state reported.

The 7-day, daily average of new cases rose to 516 with Thursday’s update.

The 14-day, daily average dropped to 487 cases per day.
