Mississippi’s rate of new coronavirus cases remains steady, state reports

Mississippi reported a slightly increased number of new COVID-19 coronavirus cases Saturday over the trailing averages along with more than a dozen additional deaths.
On Saturday, the state reported 655 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.
The state also reported 17 new deaths Saturday. Two of the deaths reported Saturday actually occurred between August 29 and September 5.
In total, 93,087 cases have been found in the state since March. The state believes approximately 79,000 of those cases have recovered.
A total of 2,809 people in Mississippi have died as a result of coronavirus, the state reported.
The 7-day, daily average of new cases rose to 495 with Saturday’s update.
The 14-day, daily average rose to 472 cases per day.
Totals of all reported COVID-19 cases for 2020, including those in long-term care (LTC) facilities.
