Deion Sanders to become new Jackson State football coach

NFL Hall-of Famer Deion Sanders will become the new head football coach at Jackson State University, Sanders announced Sunday night on his podcast.

The university is expected to officially make the announcement Monday morning.

“I’ve been called to take things to another level,” Sanders said on the podcast. “I’m ecstatic. I cannot wait to touch that grass, I can’t wait to put that whistle in my mouth, I can’t wait to start drawing up plays.”

Sanders, a two-time Super Bowl Champion and six-time All-Pro during his 14-year NFL career.

Sanders reportedly visited the Jackson area in August when the Trinity Christian School in Cedar Hill, Texas, at which Sanders serves as the offensive coordinator, played Madison Ridgeland Academy.

Sanders will finish out the Texas high school season before beginning at Jackson State.
