Mississippi 14-day average of new coronavirus cases inches back up

Mississippi’s 14-day trailing average of new, daily COVID-19 coronavirus cases inched higher Saturday moving back above 500 cases per day for the first time in nearly two weeks.
The Mississippi State Health Department reported 645 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.
The state also reported 17 additional deaths Saturday. Twelve of the deaths reported Saturday occurred between September 15 and September 25.
In total, 96,677 cases have been found in the state since March. The state believes approximately 85,000 of those cases have recovered.
A total of 2,911 people in Mississippi have died as a result of coronavirus, the state reported.
The 7-day, daily average of new cases rose to 514 with Saturday’s update.
The 14-day, daily average dropped to 490 cases per day.
Totals of all reported COVID-19 cases for 2020, including those in long-term care (LTC) facilities.
