Mississippi coronavirus new cases level off at just below 500 daily average

Mississippi’s 14-day trailing average of new, daily COVID-19 coronavirus cases dipped below 500 cases per day Sunday, as Mississippi’s new cases continue to hover around 500 cases per day.
The Mississippi State Health Department reported 182 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.
The state also reported eight additional deaths Sunday, all of the deaths reported Sunday occurred between September 24 and September 26.
In total, 96,859 cases have been found in the state since March. The state believes approximately 85,000 of those cases have recovered.
A total of 2,919 people in Mississippi have died as a result of coronavirus, the state reported.
The 7-day, daily average of new cases dropped slightly to 499 with Sunday’s update.
The 14-day, daily average dropped slightly to 499 cases per day.
Totals of all reported COVID-19 cases for 2020, including those in long-term care (LTC) facilities.
Detailed reporting of long-term care information will resume on Monday.
